The challenge
In connection with the organization of patient transport, it is also a business and regulatory requirement for operators to record conversations in the appropriate quality and to ensure their interception during telephone work. It emerged as an operational support requirement to have a common storage space for data recording that is uniform, but based on authorization levels, as a common platform for accounting and auditing. The recording and long-term holding of telephone conversations is regulated by law. With regard to the handling of sensitive data, the encryption of the data to be archived and the adequacy of the archiving service for sensitive data are also emphasized. Borsod-Mentő was expected to develop a low-cost, high-reliability, HIPAA-compliant archiving system.
The solution
TC2 uses the AWS Storage gateway service to save the data that one wanted to archive to a cloud service that specializes in long-term storage and cost-effectiveness. This did not involve any technological change or modification on the sending side, but drastically reduced the monthly expenses. The implemented system is based on the AWS Glacier service. AWS Glacier’s long-term storage and retrieval service provides an encrypted, private secret key and HIPAA-compliant infrastructure service. The service is highly secure with 99.999999999% durability. Access to the service is provided through role-based authorization management, which is integrated by AWS.
